Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino, known as Vedovamazzei, are an artist duo active in Milan since 1991. Their practice blends irony, social critique, and reflection on contemporary culture, spanning painting, installation, and public interventions. Among their most recent solo exhibitions are Senza Titolo (Museolaboratorio, 2025), Roma Arte in Nuvola (2024), and LRVM Repubblica di San Marino (2024). In the past, they have exhibited at institutions such as MAXXI in Rome, Galleria De Foscherari in Bologna, Magazzino d’Arte Moderna in Rome, and Art Basel Miami. They have taken part in numerous significant group exhibitions, including the 18th Quadriennale di Roma (2025–2026), La pittura italiana oggi (Triennale Milano, 2023), and Opera Opera (Palais Populaire, Berlin, 2022). Their works have also been shown in major international museums and biennials such as the Venice Biennale, S.M.A.K. in Ghent, the Montréal Biennale, and the Gwangju Biennale. Vedovamazzei are distinguished by a poetics that combines conceptual lightness with critical depth, exploring with originality the boundaries between art, life, and contemporary society.
